Curfew Bell
Originally used as Sultan’s nightly curfew bell, the historic Victory Bell later became a symbol of school pride, celebration, and community tradition.

Beginning in 1934, Sultan police officer Louis Jelinek started each evening patrol by ringing the town’s curfew bell to signal that it was time for children to head home for the night. For more than thirty years, the sound of the bell became part of daily life in Sultan and a familiar tradition for generations of local families.
Over time, the bell took on a new identity and became known as the Victory Bell. Students returning home from successful athletic competitions and school events would ring the bell to share their victories with the community and celebrate alongside their supporters.
As the bell began showing signs of age, local resident Justin Wolf led restoration efforts to preserve the landmark and its history. The project included repairing cracks, sandblasting old paint, applying a new gold finish, and sealing the bell with a weather-resistant coating, helping preserve an important symbol of Sultan’s traditions and community pride.
