MORE ABOUT
MONROE
Nestled where the Skykomish, Snoqualmie, and Snohomish rivers come together, Monroe has long served as a gateway between the Puget Sound lowlands and the Cascade Mountains. Early settlement began in the 1860s as farming communities took root in the fertile river valleys. Originally known as Park Place, the town moved and reinvented itself when the Great Northern Railway arrived in the 1890s, eventually becoming the City of Monroe.
Over the years, Monroe became a center for agriculture, timber, transportation, and commerce. The arrival of the railroad sparked rapid growth, bringing hotels, stores, mills, and new opportunities to the valley. Today, Monroe remains a community where historic roots and modern growth meet, serving as the western gateway to the Sky Valley.
